Hello, bloggers!

We see algorithms every day and most of us don’t even realize they are there. We use algorithms to make decisions effortlessly and they are not always complicated. They exist because an algorithm is just a set of instructions that can be repeated. When you have something like this, it makes a lot of things easier to do.

Algorithms power AI and they have the potential to do great things, but they can also cause problems. One of the issues with algorithms today, primarily in the artificial intelligence realm, is the bias that exists in them. This might…

Hello, bloggers!

This week’s topic is one that I don’t think gets talked about enough: the digital divide. We often hear about the stories of people experiencing poverty, health issues, or food insecurities, but we sometimes forget the additional struggles that people in these groups face. The digital divide can be described as the gap that exists between those who can easily access computers, the internet, and emerging technologies, and those who can’t (Kim). But why is this issue so important?

Well, for starters, not having access to the internet is a tremendous disadvantage in the modern world. We use…

Hey bloggers!

They say that what you do on the internet never really goes away, and I do have to say, I believe that more now. Big data is a term that is getting thrown around more and more, and it’s important to be aware of what it is and what it means for you and me. Basically, big data is the information that gets collected from everyday users (us) and stored by the big corporations of the world. …

Hello, bloggers!

This week we are talking about the subject of self-driving cars, or more precisely, autonomous vehicles. While the concept might seem simple at first, there is actually a lot that goes into this field.

For instance, I only ever thought of how a self-driving car would allow me to relax while letting the computer guide my car. I never thought about they could help others who could really use the help. A self-driving car could make it easy for those with disabilities to get around more easily. …

Hello, bloggers!

My name is Moshe (pronounced “Mo-shay”) Martinez. This is my second year at WOU and I am a Computer Science major and Spanish minor. I use he/him/his pronouns.

This is actually my first time writing a blog. I used to journal and I kind of miss writing down my thoughts and being able to look back on them so I’m looking forward to this experience.

A few things about me: I like learning new skills and gaining experience. I like exercising, playing music, watching YouTube, and staying busy. I also like learning more about technology. And that’s a little about me!

That’s all for today.
